Monaco: This year, Novak Djokovic twice successfully beat world number one Rafael Nadal and maintain a record 24 matches without defeat. Now, the Serb had determined to beat Nadal on clay, Nadal's favorite field.
Despite record Djokovic faces Nadal on clay is very bad - of the nine meetings of both, Djokovic has not even win - the Australian Open champion was optimistic after successfully defeating Nadal at the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament and BNP Paribas Open despite lagging advance first.
"Achieving victory over Nadal is very important for me mentally. I now have the confidence to be able to defeat him. Something that I lacked in previous years," said Djokovic.
"If I want to be world number one tennis player so I have to play consistently all year. If not, I do not have the opportunity to pursue Rafa and Roger because they must perform consistently," he added.
However, Djokovic had to postpone the match against Nadal on clay after he withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters tennis tournament because of a knee injury. Djokovic will return to practice next week before the Serbian Open.
